The gross foreign debt of Bulgaria shrank 0.8 per cent on a monthly basis to EUR 37 billion at the end of February 2010 and accounted for 107.3 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), the central bank said on 26 of April 2010. The public and publicly guaranteed external debt went up slightly in comparison with the previous month to EUR 4.2 billion, or 12.3 per cent of GDP, according to the data. The Chairman of the Prosecutors’ office of the city of Sofia, probably the most important prosecutors’ office in Bulgaria, reported in 2010 that there were total number of 1,299 public prosecutors in Bulgaria. The news paper Trud reported on 2 of June 2010 that there were 4,688 magistrates and 8,845 other officials in the judicial system of Bulgaria. Ivan Kolev, a member and the chairman of the budget commission of the Supreme judicial council of Bulgaria reported these figures on 4 of December 2009 also. One says that the magistrates in Bulgaria include judges and public prosecutors so the judges have to be 3,389. The news paper Sega reported on 4 of December 2009 that the minimum monthly salary in 2009 of a magistrate in the regional court in Bulgaria was 1,430 BGN, in the district court was 1,830 BGN and in the supreme courts was 2,650 BGN. The magistrates in Bulgaria had additionally 2 per cent per each year period of time work and the limit was up to 40 per cent of the salary. There were 4,704 lawyers registered as members of the Sofia bar association of lawyers and the total number of lawyers in Bulgaria was 11,357 in 2009 as it was announced in the State gazette of Bulgaria issue Nr. 7 on 26 of January 2010. They include 87,370 officials in the ministries and agencies, 61,170 officials in the Ministry of interior and 291,400 officials in the public sector. They are 10.6 per cent less than in 2009. Bulgaria has population of 7.7 million persons in 2006. The Minister of finances offered a new model of matrix payment of the official depending of the results of their work and an “atractive bonus” depending of demanding of work force in public and private sectors. The part of the salary of the official depending of the results has to be as much as 25 per cent that is higher than the existing percentage. The Minister of finances reported that a middle level director in the state administration has a monthly salary of 1,080 BGN plus additional payment bonuses up to the total amount of salary of 1,940 BGN or 1,000 euros. ...

Dr. Lalka Rangelova MD, a physician and a chief expert on food and diet in the National center on health in Sofia, Bulgaria reported the result of a national survey poll on 1 of July 2010. The chief expert in Bulgaria said that 63 per cent of men and 50 per cent of women at the age of 19 till 60 years old in Bulgaria have over weight. As fat persons were estimated 22 per cent of men and 17 per cent of women in Bulgaria. The children in Bulgaria at the age of 1 till 5 years old were estimated as 11 per cent with weight over the rate as respectively 8 per cent of them had over weight and 3 per cent were estimated as fat children. The children in Bulgaria at the age of 7 years old when they began going to school in first grade were estimated as 30 per cent with weight over the rate as respectively 17 per cent of them had over weight and 13 per cent were estimated as fat children.
